The winning strategies are working: Dr Roland Fleck and
Peter Ottmann, the CEOs of the NürnbergMesse Group, presented
the record balance sheet for the 2016 financial year at today’s press
conference: turnover, EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes,
depreciation, amortization) and profit have reached new record
levels. 2017 is currently progressing fully to plan. “The 2016
Annual Report reveals historical records for NürnbergMesse in
terms of financial and exhibition key figures: at 288m Euro turnover,
we generated a Group profit of 15m Euro”, said Dr Roland Fleck. For
Peter Ottmann it is like sport: “Currently, the course is being
correctly set for many NürnbergMesse themes to ensure that we can
complete the next success stage. We are currently gearing
ourselves up for this.”
The 2016 event year represents an historic milestone in the corporate history
of the NürnbergMesse Group: the total of 172 events attracted 1.4m visitors,

while 32,317 exhibitors booked 1.13m square metres of exhibition space. In
terms of business, this therefore also goes hand-in-hand with a new record
turnover of 288m Euro; the same applies to the profit, which for the first time
in the company's history is over 15m Euro. Decisive impulses for this
outstanding development were generated by exhibitors and visitors from
abroad. “Our events have never been more international. This underlines the
attractiveness of the trade fair and exhibition concepts at the Nuremberg
location and worldwide. To ensure that this remains the case, even at times
when we are reporting records, we will continue to massively invest in the
future”, said Dr Roland Fleck.
NürnbergMesse: course set for further growth
For Peter Ottmann, it is in particular the central course-setting in the first half
of the year that is of strategic significance for the further development of
NürnbergMesse: “The world-leading fair Interzoo has now been secured for
the exhibition location until at least 2036, we are cooperating for the first time
with Messe Frankfurt in Russia and in Nuremberg the roof girders of the
new Hall 3C, which we will be opening in autumn 2018, are already clearly
visible, pointing to the sky. Apart from that, we have decided to raise the
impetus with the issue of “digitization”. He added that the development of the
international subsidiaries was also positive. According to Peter Ottmann, last
year in Brazil, China, India and North America, NürnbergMesse brought
together over 3,500 exhibitors, over 160,000 visitors and all of them in total
net exhibition space of over 100,000 square metres.
2017 progressing as advised, 2018 already the focal point
For both NürnbergMesse CEOs looking ahead to the 2017 event year it is
clear: The event rotation or cycle phenomenon, which occurs only every
12 years, where major trade fairs such as BrauBeviale or FachPack
simultaneously take a “gap” year, represents a financial and business
challenge, which however will ultimately be effectively overcome. Irrespective
of that, the established events in the portfolio are continuing to develop very
positively. Heading towards 2018 there are already clear indications from the
market side that the company’s positive trend is continuing dynamically, said
Peter Ottmann. According to Dr Roland Fleck, the construction of the new
Hall 3C is also progressing on budget and schedule: “With its opening next
year, we will once again increase the attractiveness of the exhibition centre

Nuremberg. The combination of demand-orientated functionality, appealing
and attractive design and the highest energy standards is also an elementary
image factor for NürnbergMesse!”
