NürnbergMesse crowns a sparkling year
2016: NürnbergMesse Group achieves new record turnover at over 275 million Euro
2017: Innovation offensive with 10 new events in Nuremberg and worldwide
2018: Hall 3C to open in autumn with around 10,000 m²
Handing out the presents two weeks before Christmas: in today’s Annual Press Conference, the two CEOs of the NürnbergMesse Group, Dr. Roland Fleck and Peter Ottmann, announced historic record turnover of 275 million Euro: in this connection the company has for the first time exceeded the quarter-of-a-billion Euro threshold. “The foundation of this record turnover is our classic core business – namely trade fairs, exhibitions and congresses, in Nuremberg just as much as worldwide”, says Peter Ottmann. At the same time, Dr. Roland Fleck announced an innovation and investment offensive: “In 2017, we will be launching ten new events, from Nuremberg via São Paulo to Mumbai, from Shanghai to Milan. At the same time, the construction of Hall 3C, the key investment next year, is currently on time and on budget.”
The trade fair and exhibition and congress year is not even over yet, nevertheless in the view of the two NürnbergMesse CEOs, a positive summary can already be presented in terms of the 2016 financial year – because: for the first time in the company’s history, the exhibitor space is more than one million square metres! In terms of turnover, the number of exhibitors and internationality of the events too, there are new record figures.
New event themes: In Nuremberg as well as worldwide
In 2017, things will continue at a sporty pace: within the framework of the Annual Press Conference, Peter Ottmann and Dr. Roland Fleck announced no less than ten new event themes for the coming year which underline the further growth course of the company: In Nuremberg there will be premieres for MT-CONNECT (medical technology, 21./22.06.2017), U.T.SEC (unmanned technologies and security, 02./03.03.2017) and Net.Law.S (law, society and industry in the digital world, 21./22.02.2017), in Brazil, Brasil Cycle Fair (bicycle, 22.-24.09.2017), American Winner (pedigree cat competition, 24./25.06.2017) and URB (skaters, streetwear and sneakers, September2017) will all be opening, in India, NürnbergMesse will for the first time be staging the Broadcast India Show (film and television technology, 12.-14.10.2017) and FIRE & SECURITY INDIA EXPO (fire prevention & building safety, 23.-25.02.2017), in China, the Greenery & Landscaping China (horticulture and landscaping, 07.-09.06.2017) will open and in Milan, CRAFT BEER ITALY (technology for craft brewers, 22./23.11.2017). “As a result, new, tailor-made sales and marketing platforms are being created for our customers – perfectly coordinated with the respective sectors and target countries”, according to Peter Ottmann.
Construction of new Hall 3C on schedule and on budget
In addition to the outlined innovation offensive, the investments in the exhibition centre Nuremberg will also be further accelerated in order to secure the great attractiveness of the exhibition location. For Dr.RolandFleck, a central course setting: “The construction of the new Hall 3C is currently on schedule and on budget. We are thus optimistic about commissioning our new jewel in the third quarter of 2018.”
Outlook for 2017
The outlook for 2017 is to a great extent characterized by the scheduled break taken by major international trade fairs and exhibitions in Nuremberg, especially as far as the central autumn events are concerned. This event cycle-phenomenon occurs only every twelve years and was already anticipated by NürnbergMesse. On this basis, taking a look ahead at the trend for the 2016 to 2018 financial years, we could talk about a “planned V” constellation: “Following the record year of 2016, it is now necessary in economic and business terms to cross a narrow valley before, in 2018, we immediately, as planned, once again achieve turnover of well over a quarter of a billion Euro”, both NürnbergMesse CEOs said in agreement.
