  • Die casting: best practice on the path to Die Casting 4.0
  • Presentations by experts at the EUROGUSS 2018 trade fair in Nuremberg

What are the latest technologies for the die casting process? What are the developments in processes and materials? And what’s going on at the user end? These and similar questions will be explored at the International German Die Casting Congress, which takes place parallel to the EUROGUSS trade fair in Nuremberg from 16 to 18 January 2018. For the first time, the winners of the aluminium, zinc and magnesium die casting competitions will also be announced at the congress, which is co-organised by the VDD (Association of German Die Casting Foundries) and the BDG (German Foundry Association). It welcomes representatives of die casting foundries, the associated supply industry, universities and institutes.

The congress programme covers the entire die casting process chain. As well as traditional topics like tooling and mould technology and the metal materials and operating supplies used in die casting, the congress will also explore trend-setting issues like Industry 4.0 and its challenges for the die casting sector. There will also be presentations by industry experts on subjects like the digitalisation of the die casting process and the influence of 3D applications on the construction of die casting moulds. Knowledgeable speakers from exhibiting companies will present their innovations and provide fascinating insights into the opportunities for further process optimisation and automation.

Competitions: presentation of winning products
At EUROGUSS, the Initiative Zink (German zinc industry network), GDA (General Association of the Aluminium Industry) and EFM (European Association for Magnesium) will award prizes for outstanding die cast products. The winners will be presented in detail at the congress at the following times:
