- Topping-out celebration for the new Hall 3C: Construction within budget and on schedule
- Total investment about EUR 70 million, including infrastructure work
- Starting fall 2018: Almost 10,000 m2 of future exhibition area bearing the mark of star architect Zaha Hadid
Hall 3C has only reached its topping-out ceremony, but one thing is already clear: it will be a jewel, and a new attention-getter in the southwest corner of the exhibition centre. And as Hall 3A did before, it combines the highest standards of both quality and energy efficiency, regionality and internationality. As NürnbergMesse CEO Peter Ottmann points out, Hall 3C once again manifests the fairgrounds’ magic spell: “An idea has given rise to a successful new product. I’m impressed by the terrific work from our trades people and the team at Zaha Hadid Architects.” And Ottmann’s co-CEO Dr Roland Fleck points up another connection: “Our current investment campaign is earning us a leading position as an attractive location for trade shows and conferences. And the construction of Hall 3C is a brilliant embodiment of innovation and investment at our Nuremberg exhibition centre.”
Nuremberg Mayor Dr Ulrich Maly, who is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NürnbergMesse, has been looking most of all at the exhibition centre’s effect on the local economy: “NürnbergMesse is a success story in economic policy. The international trade fairs and conferences here generate extensive jobs and buying power. We’re very pleased that the construction of the new Hall 3C will soon add another chapter to this Nuremberg success story.” Dr Markus Söder, Bavarian State Minister of Finance, Regional Development and Home Affairs, sees NürnbergMesse as also providing an important platform function for business: “Top trade fairs are a company’s springboard into the world market. Bavaria’s trade show facilities make that possible in outstanding form. In that sense, the construction of Hall 3C at NürnbergMesse is a very important signal to the market – namely that Nuremberg is going to keep playing in the Champions League of trade fairs.”
Halle 3C: Construction within budget, on schedule
Hall 3C is NürnbergMesse’s single biggest investment to date, coming in at roughly EUR 70 million, including infrastructure work and taxes. The new hall, which is rising within budget and on schedule, will initially provide an urgently needed “buffer” that ensures a future gross exhibition space of at least 170,000 m² even while future construction projects are in progress.
Key figures for the new Hall 3C:
- Width: approx. 85 metres
- Length: approx. 95 to 145 metres (trapezoidal layout)
- Height: approx. 13 to 20 metres
- Gross exhibition area: approx. 9,600 m²
- Construction time: approx. 18 months
- Installed steel: 2,300 metric tons. About 31.5 percent of the weight of the steel structure of the Eiffel Tower, or about 500 elephants.
- Glass façade: 3,000 square metres. About 1,500 times the surface area of a human body, or 2,380 windows measuring 101 x 125 cm
- Roof space: 10,200 square metres. About 2,318 standardised beer tables or 16,372 DIN A4 pages.
